Attending Ferrari Friday? Here’s What You Need to Know

April 12, 2022

A Guide to Ferrari Friday in the Village

Known far and wide as a glitzy, glamorous seaside village, La Jolla makes the perfect setting for an exciting new event: Ferrari Friday in the Village. As part of the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance presented by LPL Financial and Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty, this red-hot extravaganza brings together car enthusiasts from around the region to see a spectacular lineup of these one-of-a-kind vehicles. Read on to learn more about the event or get the lowdown on the best place to stay in the area: Cormorant Boutique Hotel, a true standout among hotels in La Jolla with ocean views.

The Event

Ferrari Friday in the Village will take place on Friday, April 22, starting at 5 p.m. There’s no fee to attend this event, which will feature live music, specialty dining and cocktail menus, gallery champagne receptions, retail specials, and of course, up-close-and-personal viewings of Ferraris you definitely don’t get to see every day.

The Location

Head to Prospect Street to see the full Ferrari Friday lineup. This is one of La Jolla Village’s busiest thoroughfares, thanks to the collection of businesses based here. Though flashy cars will be parked along this stretch (likely commanding the most attention), the action will spill over into the surrounding streets, with adjacent shops and restaurants full of energy.

Cormorant Boutique Hotel is located on the corner of Prospect Street and Girard Ave, so staying here will put you just steps from the action. You might even be able to get an aerial view of the lineup from your balcony or from our fourth-floor rooftop bar, Birdseye. Sip craft cocktails while you listen to the live music and the hum of the crowd below.

The Buzz

When you’ve had your fill of Ferraris, head to one of the surrounding shops and restaurants to take advantage of specials they’ve created just for this event. You’ll find specialty/signature

cocktails, prix fixe menus, car-themed merchandise, and even giveaways that tie into the event’s theme.

History of Ferrari

Ferrari, an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer, created its first car in 1947. By the ‘50s, the Ferrari name was synonymous with speed and craftsmanship, thanks to its success in several Formula 1 races. The addition of V8 engines in the ‘70s made the vehicle ever more popular, with sales hitting their peak. After a slump in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Ferrari remerged with new, stronger branding (and some impressive racing wins). Stores opened in Saint Petersburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, New York, and Miami in the early 2000s. To this day, the brand continues to steal the hearts of car lovers around the world.

La Jolla Concours d’Elegance

Ferrari Friday is taking place in conjunction with La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, a weekend-long event presented by La Jolla Historical Society. Though some of the weekend’s special events have sold out, there are still general admission tickets left for the Sunday event, which features more than 125 vehicles displayed on the La Jolla Cove lawn. Show up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see the lineup and enjoy live music.
