Legendary cove beach and wildlife hangout

 One of the best beaches in La Jolla and perhaps San Diego overall, La Jolla Cove is a tiny slice of beach heaven mere blocks from the bustling heart of La Jolla Village. Descend a set of steps to find a small, sandy cove protected by rugged sandstone cliffs. More often than not, you’ll see sea lions and harbor seals sunbathing on the rocks to the left, while cormorants and pelicans sit high atop the rocks to the right. Avian life and aquatic life are abundant here, as the cove is part of the 6,000-acre La Jolla Underwater Park.

Perfect for everything from a quick dip to a full-on scuba-diving session, the water at La Jolla Cove Beach is clean, clear, and cool. Kids splash in the waves while parents and lifeguards look on a few yards away. It’s a beautiful beach to behold, even if you stay near the walking path overlooking the beach and never make your way down the steps.
